Swansea Crown Court heard that in May this year police officers acting as part of Operation Ortega – an investigation into organised crime gangs suppling Class A drugs in Swansea – identified a number of vehicles parked in the Kings Road car park in city's SA1 development that were being used as "stash cars" to store supplies of drugs. Both defendants were arrested at the scene following the crash and more than £11,000 worth of Class A drugs was recovered. Tanvir Ali and his accomplice Arif Ali had been using vehicles parked in the busy car park as so-called "stash cars" to store their supplies of heroin and crack cocaine. Tanvir Ali narrowly avoided pedestrians and other cars as he raced through the car park before crashing into an unmarked police car.
